Extended Conversations

Hi. Welcome to the blog. This is Berea people talking about Berea and whatever. If you wish to participate, I will have to invite you to become a member for which I will need your e-mail address. I am hoping I can get as many current students as possible to join, as well as former students, professors, administrators, workers, perhaps townpeople. The more the merrier. Let's talk.

If it were to get enough members, it could substitute the Pinnacle, the Chimes, the SGA Senate. But substitute would be the wrong word, the correct term would be "compliment," enrichen. Just like washingtonpost.com did not get rid of its print version. With text, photos, links, and audio as options, the platform this blog provides is amazing. People writing under real names and assumed names, though only one name per e-mail address. Some members reporting on campus events. Some alumni talking about their after-years. Some groups writing under one name. Opinion pieces. Irresponsible words. An amalgam. Running commentaries on campus and town events and issues. Or people could branch off to create their personal blogs that link to this blog. Or blogs of smaller sub groups that link to this blog. To end up with a galaxy of blogs, many of them linked to each other.

The audio option is like having a web-based student run radio station.

And the Google News link on the right, that should in itself entice one to visit the page once a day, or however often you like to get your news. You could do a search on your state or country, and, caput, news delivered.

Once the membership goes into the hundreds, there will be contributors who will be using a particular font type or background color to their postings so as to differentiate themselves, I would think.

Just look at four organizations that might get positively impacted.

(1) Pinnacle writers no longer having word limits. They can take extended versions of their articles online.

(2) SGA Senate discussions can percolate into the larger student body. People speaking more fully and more freely. Alumni could participate.

(3) Chimes photo space limitations do not exist online. It is unlimited.

(4) The Cosmo Club could have its members worldwide come together online at one place.
